From WWW.BackPainPanacea.com, post Back Pain causes and precautions

The Back pain can range from a slight annoyance to a knee dropping, tear-producing pain. Either way, pay attention to it and take immediate action to alleviate the pain. Pain is your body telling you to STOP! Don’t ignore it.

Back pain occurs when muscles or ligaments are overstretched which produces a strain or sprain, but either way, it’s painful! In most cases back pain is severe right after an injury but can also appear gradually over a few hours or even days.

Providing you don’t have any underlying medical conditions, most back pain can be treated at home or in some cases conservatively by a physician. With proper attention and care you’ll be able to continue with your daily activities within two to six weeks.

How to avoid re-injury?

First be certain your initial injury is healed. It’s most important to remember to recognize the pain, alleviate it and avoid the pit falls of re-injury, which is easy to do, if you don’t take care of the initial problem. Don’t rush the healing process. To avoid injuring yourself again, remember it’s important to build and maintain muscle strength and keep the ligaments that support those muscles flexible. Always stretch before doing any type of physical activity to wake up and loosen up those muscles. It takes ten minutes to properly stretch out your muscles and it’s ten minutes well spent to avoid re-injury!

Avoid lifting improperly

Many people lift things and don’t realize that doing it the wrong way can take its toll on their lower back. People are at an increased risk if their job involves lifting heavy objects all the time, such as those working in delivery companies or warehouses. Even people who don’t spend a lot of time lifting heavy objects are prone to back injury if they do not do it properly. In fact, one of the major causes of back injuries is due to people lifting heavy objects in an improper manner.

Lifting objects does not need to be hazardous. There are several reasons why people hurt their backs. Perhaps one of the common mistakes is by using the wrong muscles to lift up objects. You are supposed to use the muscles in your legs and buttocks instead of the muscles in your back.

In lifting heavy objects, it is always important to bend your knees when lifting an object off the floor. This gives your spine a level foundation and avoids putting too much stress on your neck. Once you do this, it gives your spine a level foundation thus you avoid putting too much stress on it. On the other hand, it is also important to keep your body vertical while lifting heavy objects. If you do the otherwise- horizontal position, you will put a lot of stress on your lower back. The stress is often accompanied by great pressure and eventually you can suffer a slipped disc or sprain. The next mistake when lifting heavy objects is lifting the object too far from the body.

It is important to be as close as possible when you are lifting an object. By doing so, the amount of pressure on your spine will be reduced. When holding an object, it is important to make sure that you keep the object no more than eight inches away from you. Also keep your upper body vertical and use the muscles in your legs and buttocks in order to lift the object. This lifting procedure reduces the strain on your back. Also, avoid twisting your upper body when lifting heavy objects, since this can add great pressure on your spine as well.

Another minor mistake that you can do when lifting is to arch your back. As already mentioned, you need to use your legs and buttock muscles to lift the object. Arching your back simply gives you the risk of getting a back injury.

In addition, there are also some things that you need to consider before carrying items around your house or office. When lifting objects, do not reach for items higher than you. Instead, use a ladder and make sure that the object is at your chest level. If you don’t do this properly, this will put pressure on your lower back. If you need to turn when lifting the object, change your footing first. Do not twist your back.

It is very important to take note that when you bend and lift, your muscles become more fatigued. The more fatigued they become, the greater the risk of injury will be incurred. If you have a very long day of lifting heavy objects, make sure that you take frequent breaks to give your muscles more time to recover. Otherwise if you don’t, chances are that you will put injury on your lower back.

Lifting objects properly in order to avoid back pain is important. You need to take the proper precautions and lift using the proper techniques in order to prevent injury. A lifetime of proper body mechanics can prevent a lifetime of pain.

What is lower back Pain?

Lower back pain is something that millions of people face everyday. This condition affects the daily routine of people . Varying degrees of pain can be observed in different instances when this condition strikes there are some instances when the pain just disappears days after it has first shown sign of itself and there are others when it nags the sufferer for months and years. The first instance can be considered as short-term or acute pain while the second is termed as chronic or recurring pain.

Even if one feels a slight pain or discomfort, the situation should not be taken lightly because if left unattended it might become worse.

Causes of lower back pain

Lower back pain is caused by a many factors. A common reason of pain is that bone strength and muscle elasticity decrease with age due to which, there is less cushioning between the vertebrae and results in nerve compression and muscle irritation. Pain occurs when there is excessive strain on the back or if the back is subjected trauma or a recent injury. This strain is caused either when an individual lifts a heavy object which stretches the ligaments and muscles in the back, which in extreme cases leads to a ruptured disc.

Scar tissues resulting from a back injury seldom regain the strength of a normal tissue which adds to the weakening of the back. However, there are other diseases which cause back pain, a few of them being arthritis, osteoporosis, infections, joint irritations, and abnormalities. Pain can also be caused by other more common factors such as stress, poor posture, poor sleeping positions and obesity. As mentioned earlier, back pain should not be taken for granted because it can be an indicator of an even more serious health problem. Seeking professional help is recommended especially if the pain is accompanied by fever, cough and weakness.

Lower back pain is not specific to a general age group. Children though not really prone to experiencing back pains can be exposed to excessive muscle strain caused bu carrying heavy backpacks. To prevent back straining, it is suggested that children be made to carry lighter backpacks and equally distribute the load throughout their body.

In conclusion, anyone is susceptible to back pain. As back pain is neither gender specific, both men and women are also affected by this condition. It is beneficial to know that as aging is directly proportional to increase in back pain. It can be helpful to understand that dealing with this condition is easier nowadays because there are several ways that can alleviate back pain. Whatever method one chooses to relieve people of this condition is generally acceptable as long as the final result is freedom from back pain.

Cure for Lower back Pain with exercises:

Lower back exercises are really important for the health of your spine. They help you build a strong lower back which is the backbone of a good physique. Targeted exercises are one of the best conservative methods of treating lower back pain. Lower back exercises, in particular can help to strengthen this part of the body, thus warding off problems in the region. If you want to stop your back pain or prevent the development of back pain a steady routine of lower back exercises is the answer.

Muscles

Muscles are the spine’s main defence against gravity. Muscles that frequently receive oxygen-rich blood stay healthier, they receive this oxygen-rich blood through exercise. Those that are weak will be poorly co-ordinated and tire easily, and will be unable to protect the spine from damage. However, muscles that are strong and supple will be able to work longer without tiring, and give the spine the protection it needs.

Spine

Strengthening the muscles that support the spine with exercises, can prevent, reduce and even eliminate back pain. Shortened muscles can throw the spine out of alignment, the muscles involved can be back, buttocks, and even hamstrings (back of thigh muscles) or quadriceps (front of thigh muscles), can affect the alignment of the spine. Stretching the back with stretching exercises also increases mobility of the joints of the spine.

Exercise

The primary goals of an exercise program for your spine are to make the muscles of your back, stomach, hips and thighs strong and flexible thereby reducing the pressure on your spinal discs. The lower back muscles work with the abdominal muscles in order to keep the spine stable, improve sports performance, and decrease the risk of injury or back pain. So, I recommend that you include back exercises in your workout to balance the strength between your abs and back, and to support your spine and posture. The lower part of your spine supports the upper part of your body, so it must be kept strong and healthy.

Lower back exercises are important for overall core strength, yet so many people neglect the lower back muscles in their core training routine. These exercises will improve your posture and help you to stop slouching. They will also help to make everyday activities a lot easier, allowing more energy to have fun. When properly implemented and given some thought the use of lower back exercises to relieve lower back pain can be a pleasant and beneficial experience to a pain free back.

From WWW.BackPainPanacea.com, post Causes And Treatment Of Back Pain

Suffering from lumbar back pain can be a painful condition and for those that have never experienced it, you are in the minority. There are many causes for lower back pain and there could be several reasons for the onset of the pain however even simple routines like sweeping the floor can activate the condition.

The back is strong but when it gets damaged, the pain is real and can last for a long time. When you have a back injury, the results can be different depending on the person that experiences it. While one person may have extreme amounts of pain from an injury, another with the same injury may not have any discomfort at all. This is because the root cause of the pain is not the injury. It is the inflammation and tightness that is affecting the nerves in your back. You can sometimes treat these conditions with an exercise for back pain.

You must focus on what is truly causing the pain and discomfort. If you can eliminate the nerve and tissue pain then you can live a pain free life even though you still have a back condition. The chances are very high that the lumbar back pain that you feel today was caused by many years of physical abuse to your back muscles, spine and your pelvis. These are all dysfunctions that take time to build until one day the pain begins to break through. When your muscles in the back, buttocks, upper legs, shoulders and hips begin to weaken or become extremely tight, the result is pressure that causes your spine and pelvis to be out of line. This happens over a span of many years so the affects are not always seen immediately.

When your spine and hips are out of alignment they force your muscles to work in ways that they were not designed to work and it can lead to injuries and nerve related issues. Having muscle imbalances forces your body to pull and push constantly to make it function properly. When you fix the imbalances that are causing the pain then you will find that you are pain free and living life as you did before the lumbar back pain began.

When you start to exercise the back pain will leave and you are sure to feel better. If you deal with the root cause, you will not have trouble with the dysfunctions that have been accumulating over the years. When you exercise for back pain you will be targeting the muscles that are too tight or too loose and that are leading to the imbalance. The weaker muscles will be strengthened and the tighter muscles loosened up.

When your doctor prescribes medication to help with your lumbar back pain, it is intended to help with the immediate pain and symptoms and does nothing at all for the cause of the pain. That is why you must treat your back pain by attacking the cause. There is a way to do it and to get your life back on track. You must simply be committed to getting the job done.

Back pain sends many people to the medicine counters, doctors and chiropractors everyday. Millions of dollars are spent trying to find relief from both chronic and temporary back pain. Studies have shown that 80% of Americans will suffer from back pain at some point in their life. If you have ever wandered around hunched over or if you have been stuck in bed due to back pain, you know how back pain can interrupt your daily life. Since back pain is so common and so widespread, we need to understand the components of the back, what causes back pain and the treatment possibilities.

Parts of the Back:

The back is made up of the spinal column, neural elements and supporting structures. The spinal column alone has over 20 vertebrae, seven in the neck, twelve in the upper back, five in the lower back and three to five in the tailbone. The spinal cord and spinal nerves make up the neural elements. (The spinal cord runs from the base of the brain to about the middle of the back.) The muscles and spinal ligaments form the supporting structure. The ligaments are extremely important in keeping the spine stable and connecting the vertebrae. If any one of these muscles, nerves, or vertebrae is damaged then horrific back pain can follow.

Causes of Back Pain:

Back pain can have numerous causes. The most common cause for back pain is strain. Simple strains and pulled muscles can limit your activity, stop you from enjoying your family, and even affect your mood. Sometimes stress and tension can cause the muscles to tighten up or cause headaches and back pain. Yes, tension headaches are often a result of back problems. Arthritis and osteoporosis affect the joints and vertebrae causing swelling and pain. More serious issues include herniated discs and broken vertebrae. Rare but very serious causes for back pain include cancer, infection and Cauda equina syndrome.

Back Pain Cure:

In general, resuming normal or at least as close to normal activity as soon as possible is recommended. Sleeping on your side with a pillow in between your knees may be helpful, but stretching exercises are best to cure back . Long term bed rest is not recommended either, as it usually adds to length of the recovery.

When it comes to over the counter medication, ibuprofen and acetaminophen are commonly used for short-term pain relief. Long term use of ibuprofen increases your risk for ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding. Be sure to speak to your medical doctor before taking any medications.

Surgery is rarely used as a treatment except for the most severe cases. It is considered helpful in some progressive nerve damage cases and the cauda equina syndrome or sciatica.

Since more than about 80% of people suffer from back pain in their life, all over the world, everyone is looking for quick solutions. People want something that would provide them excellent results within a short period of time. Hence, people are purchasing all sorts of non-prescription and prescription medicines from the nearest pharmacy. They are also not resistant to use products that provide them with instant but temporary relief such as ointments sprays and creams for back pain relief.

But, most people are not aware of the side effects produced by the medication widely available on the market these days.

Few people are aware of the fact that certain home remedies and medication without side effects would produce wonderful effects on their body via relieving back pain. Back pain can be easily relieved with the help of stretching and flexibility exercises.

The most crippling type of pain is often lower back pain. This is because if your back pain is strong enough it can keep you from doing anything other than lying in a bed. Lower back pain is also a common health affliction that affects millions of people worldwide.

No matter what your health and fitness levels just about everyone has had some type of lower back pain at one point or another in their life. And the type of pain can vary from very mild to severe to crippling.

Many people, at the onset of back pain will often dismiss the issue and pretend that it will go away on its own. However, this is not usually the case as most types of back pain require some type of treatment from a chiropractor, doctor, or masseuse.

Often when the problem is ignored it only gets worse. The best way to deal with your lower back pain is to learn more about the causes so you can work towards focusing on the correct treatment.

Causes of back pain:

Everyone lives a different lifestyle and so the cause of one’s back pain can be from a plethora of different causes. If you are aware enough of your body and your lifestyle you should be able to pinpoint the cause of your pain.

There are a few causes that are especially common, however, they include:
* Poor posture
* Daily work habits
* Obesity
* Genetics
* Riding in a car for a long period of time
* Poor diet health (sugar increases pain)
* Bad mattress
* Poor health and fitness commitment
* Working at a computer all day
* Lifting or exercising incorrectly
* Weak muscles

Back pain Cure:

Your treatment method for lower back pain will vary, depending on the cause of the pain, the type of pain you are experiencing and the severity of it. In the case of chronic pain, medication or surgery may be suggested in rare cases.

For most other types of back discomfort fitness exercises have always shown to be one of the most effective forms of treatment and the way to prevent future occurrences. Exercise never fails as it helps to work out and stretch the muscles in your back to prevent them from becoming tight and sore.

Always make sure you do your fitness exercises correctly, however, as further serious injury could occur if not. If you have severe back pain it is best to consult with your doctor about the types and ranges of motion you can and should perform to heal your back pain.

The Mental Health:

Practicing Yoga or Tai Chi has also been very effective at eliminating and preventing further back pain. These exercises, along with stretching your back, will teach you the mental visualization techniques that are necessary for healing as well.

Never underestimate the power of focusing your mind. Without a clear deliberate mental intent to heal your back pain it will be tough to get the strength to perform the actions necessary to get rid of your pain. Once you have gotten rid of the pain it is necessary to always make diet health and fitness a top priority in your life to prevent further issues.

Chronic Back Pain:

Do you have a pain and soreness in your back for some time because you pulled a muscle? Maybe you had to lay in bed for a few days because you fell on your back or sprained something while playing sport? To be honest this pain does not compare to the pain that someone experiences who has a chronic back pain. This is a kind of pain you suffer from, day in, day out, often difficult to put your finger on where the pain comes from. Once the doctors have you diagnosed there will be some options for you that can help with providing some relief.

We need to make one distinction when we talk about chronic back pain although many factors can be the cause of it. The factors have to be taken into account so we can determine the type of back pain that you have and, more importantly, what can be done to treat it.

The distinction that can be made is that there are chronic back pains that are caused by a pain generator that can be identified and ones of which we can not identify it. The first is, most of the times, linked to such spine conditions as spinal stenosis or a degenerative disc disease. The latter is often very difficult to treat. Most times it is the unidentifiable kind that is the source.

The factors, that are an unavoidable part of this kind of back pain, are that it is long lasting and recurring. Although it already is going to be chronic a back pain is considered one the moment is is lasting for three to six months. Another strange thing of this type of back pain is that often it comes back after the patient thought is was resolved. The recurring of pain is most times unpredictable and sporadic and is not the same for all the people suffering from it.

Getting an accurate diagnosis is not easy because most of the chronic back pains are of the unidentifiable kind. And as most people describe the pain they are feeling in different ways making that a good diagnosis only gets more difficult. A person will perceive pain levels and other symptoms in an other way as the next one.

Sciatica:

Sciatica occurs due to the compression at the base of the spine. This compression leads to pain in the lower back and gluetal region of the body. This pain travels to ankle, calf, thighs and knee. Real Sciatica happens when the pain reaches the knees and the ankles. Sciatica actually is the pain that moves through the sciatic nerve – the longest nerve in your body. This nerve starts from your spinal cord to your hips and down to the leg. The pain therefore moves along this nerve and the parts of body it connects. Sciatica actually may not be problem in itself. It may have other inherent causes which are connected to the sciatic nerve like herniated disk.

Sciatica can reduce your mobility and normal daily activities considerably. The duration of the pain varies according to the inherent cause and may subside in 4-8 weeks time. However, there is no need to loose hope. There are many sciatica treatments both clinical and home based which can help cure and manage sciatica and reduce pain.

Common Treatments for sciatica and Chronic Back Pain:

Stretching Exercises:

Srtretching exercises are most helpful for Chronic back pain and sciatica relief and to avoid the recurrence of the problem. These exercises are mainly aimed at improving your mobility, rectifying your posture and in making the muscles around your lower back strong.

Medicines

The pain can be treated with anti inflammatory non steroidal dugs combined with drugs that relax muscles. Anticonvulsant drugs and Tricyclic antidepressants are also prescribed to reduce pain. These drugs work in two ways – by blocking the sensations in reaching your brain – and by producing endorphins that naturally help reduce pain.

Steroid Based Treatments

Sometimes, the doctors also prescribe epidural or corticosteroid steroid injections to help reduce inflammation in the effected areas.

Surgery

Surgery also brings relief to patients. Surgery is performed when the pain does not subside even after rest, medications or other forms of treatment and the nerve compression leads to other problems like extreme weakness and bladder incontinence etc

Alternative Sciatica Treatment

Many alternative sciatica treatments like yoga, acupuncture, acu-pressure and biofeedback therapy also exist. These alternative treatments are very effective in curing your sciatica problem.

Sciatica Treatment At Home

There are many home based sciatica treatment too. Some of them are very effective in curing your sciatica pain quickly. For example ice treatment is very effective in controlling sciatica pain if it is used with in 48 hours of the onset of pain. Movement is also a good option in reducing pain. Doing exercises that stretch piriformis muscles are helpful in controlling sciatica pain. Balancing your pelvis region properly also helps in controlling pain. You can do this by lying down on the bed to check whether the balance is properly distributed on both sides.

From WWW.BackPainPanacea.com, post Back Pain On The Right or Left Side

If you are constantly dealing with mid back pain on the right or left side then you may go to the doctor for help regarding the cause of your pain. Using painkillers and creams will help soothe the pain of dealing with mid back pain on the right side, but there are reasons why you keep experiencing it and you will not be able to permanently deal with the problem without medical advice and diagnosis.

For some people dealing with mid back pain on ine side may be indicative of a degenerative muscle and bone condition referred to as sciatica. This is a condition that occurs because pressure is being placed on your spinal cord and muscles pressing the nerves in. Having a slight curve to the right may cause this condition or it simply may be a genetic disease you unfortunately have developed. It is recommended that if this is the case, as diagnosed by a doctor who will be able to spot it in your x-rays, you change your lifestyle and institute more exercise into your routine.

Stretching exercises will help to strengthen your bones and muscles so that the pressure on your lower back will be lessened. Dealing with mid back pain on the right side is not impossible, but will require some effort on your part. Simply walking an hour a day can help straighten your back out as you will be standing upright for the walk as your body was built to be. If you spend most of your day sitting or in the office standing straight and walking is an important key to dealing with mid back pain on the right side.

Additionally, if you do have sciatica, than carrying excess weight on your frame is going to heighten how much you are going to be dealing with mid back pain on the right side. This statement is not to attack people who are on the overweight side, but the fact of the matter is that your back has to support your bodies weight, and people who are overweight tend to carry their fat on their stomachs and for woman on their breasts as well.

This means added pressure to your lower spinal cord area and muscles which will in turn affect how much you will be dealing with mid back pain on the right side. Often times people suffer from a slight curved spine and do not even know it for years until putting on some extra weight because their bodies have been able to deal with it up until the added weight and/or because the added weight gain may have come from a decrease in physical activity.

If you find yourself dealing with mid back pain on right or left side the best course of action is to see a medical doctor who will take some x-rays and recommend you to a physical therapist who can help you in dealing with mid back pain on the right side. Dealing with mid back pain on the right side does not have to override the pleasure in your life, but you should find ways to make exercise pleasurable so that you can decrease the pain and enjoy life in a better way.

Chronic back pain

Most people at some point in their life have chronic back pain. And this can really destroy the quality of your life. Some typical causes of back pain are weak abdominal muscles, a big belly, bad posture, weak lower back muscles, and stress. There are several things you can do to alleviate back pain, or better yet, prevent back pain.

Maintaining a healthy weight range is one of the best ways for you to avoid placing any unnecessary stress on your back. Not sporting a fat gut will go a long way for you not having to place unnecessary stress on your lower back. Most people, especially men, with protruding bellies have severe back pain, due to all the stress that the weight of the belly places on the back in order to support it.

Having very weak stomach muscles is another factor that causes back pain. People who have a weak stomach, are allowing their back to take up all the work to support the upper body. This is way too much work for the lower back. Of course you can always strengthen your core muscles. You should work your core muscles between two to three times per week. You can decrease the stress placed on your lower back simply by increasing your core strenght. At my boot camp we work the core muscles about three times per week. Anymore than that then you are just over training your ab muscles.

The third factor that causes back problems is poor posture. You would be surprised how many people have poor posture. You should always maintain proper posture, where you are standing totally erect. By working out regularly, and standing and seating correctly, you will be able to improve your posture greatly, therefore eliminating your back pain.

Lastly, stress can be a huge determinant of back pain. When people stress out their body becomes acidic, causing more and more tension throughout the body. And it’s the back the neck that get the blunt end of all this stress. You should be doing abdominal exercises at least two to three times per week to strengthen your core muscles. You should also lose weight and flatten your stomach out. Also, a great flexibility program will alleviate a lot of back tension.

Back Pain Reduction Recommendations

Every one should maintain a healthy weight, exercise regularly, sit up straight, and let their legs do the work when lifting something heavy. Activities involving repetitive bending or twisting should be avoided. When sitting or standing for long periods of time, a person should get up and walk around frequently.

Back Pain Relief Through Stress Management

Pain can be much worse when there is stress. Negative patterns of thought are habitual by people having chronic pain and this can increase stress. Pain specialists use cognitive therapy to show patients how their pain levels can be increased or decreased by understanding their thoughts. A person can change thinking and any fears preventing planning or managing activities by being taught cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Stress Reductions Recommendations

Anybody can learn how to think accurately about a situation instead of letting behavior be controlled by fear. Therapists teach self-help strategies (i. e. exercising gently, sleep habit improvement, pacing daily activities, how to request support from others, daily meditation and relaxation exercises)..

From WWW.BackPainPanacea.com, post Back Pain Relief and exercises

Back Pain Relief

Probable the most common lie you have been told is that back pain relief is hard to achieve. This is completely wrong and you are actually able to relieve back pain quickly by targeting a few muscles that have tightened.

Muscular tension is the most common cause of back pain. If you want to relieve back pain quickly then all you need to do is ease muscle tension.

The problem with this approach is that it is back relief only, it does not help to create a long term back pain cure.

However, it will only relieve back pain, it will never be a long term back pain cure.

The biggest lie you have ever been told about back relief is that all you need to do is target your muscular system. Even those that add in that you need to correct joints are only partially correct.

To have long term back relief you must address all the factors causing it. The muscles and joints are the physical aspects. You also need to reduce stress, improve your general health and fitness levels.

Your spine is an entire system in itself. You need to look outside the physical to have long term success at removing pain. This is why the back pain relief statistics are so poor.

There are just too many sites teaching ONLY the physical side of back relief. If all you do is remove a few muscle and joint imbalances, then all you ever will get is temporary back relief.

Another lie you are told is that changing all these other factors means you need to change your lifestyle. Or that it will takes hours each day to get success.

Long term success doesn’t mean you need to spend hours each day to try to relieve back pain. It is the small things you do on a regular basis that create the greatest change. If you change a few minor things each week, improve your stress relief, eat healthier, go outside and exercise then you will remove the issues that have caused your back pain.

The one lie that is most worrying is that you will have back pain for the rest of your life. That once there back pain is going to haunt you forever.

In fact if you learn the very simple and effective ways to correct muscle imbalances, get your joints moving freely, and then learn to reduce stress and improve your overall fitness and health, you can cure back pain.

Back pain relief is not a complex or difficult process, all you need to do is remove ALL the causes.

Some Back pain relief stretches and exercises:

When your back hurts, it’s hard to focus on anything. You may think that you’ll have to stop exercising, but there is an alternative. Here are some suggestions of exercises that can be performed to alleviate back pain and get you moving once again.

Back pain arises from several places. Usually the muscles of the lower back are overused and therefore prone to injury. When back pain hits, the first instinct is to stop what you are doing and sit down. If you have formerly been active, staying like that can help you get back to health sooner.

For anyone wondering, you don’t need special equipment to perform exercises to alleviate back pain. You can do them right at home. All you need is time and space to move. You may feel discomfort as you start doing the exercises but don’t shy away from that.

In the body, back muscles and abdominal muscles work jointly. A strong core consists of strong abdominal regions and also strong back muscles. Working one without the other can result in a weakness that can lead to injury.

To gain power, flexibility and strength in that area, the exercises that you perform need to offer these three things.

1. Aerobic exercise – Aerobic exercise conditions your heart, lungs and muscles of the entire body. Start slow with an aerobics class that uses your own weight. You can graduate to a step aerobics or aerobic kickboxing when your core muscles are tough enough to ensure proper balance.

2. Weight-training exercises – The way to build more muscle is to challenge it. Start with lighter weights and more practice to perfect your technique. Target on all areas of your back for an even look. Use machines, free weights, bands and weighted bars for selection in your routine. The same goes for your abdominal region. Do not just focus on the rectus abdominis area where you see the six-pack abs. Working the oblique muscles helps with twisting and turning your body. Working the lower abs lifts the pelvis.

3. Stretch – Stretching is important to reduce injury to your muscles. You warm up your body to get your heart and lungs ready for the challenge. Stretching the back muscles can make them more flexible. Use exercise lessons like yoga and Pilates to attain this. These exercises appear mild but they are actually quite helpful.

Avoid carrying out any exercise that will put too much stress on the lower back. Use your core to stabilize, but the weight will be in your legs or your upper body. For lying exercises, raise your legs together so the core is immobile.

Back pain does not mean that you have to stop doing what you love. Keep moving but adjust your exercise routine until your back pain is gone.

Tips to Avoid Back Pain

Back pain is a tricky thing. The back and its attendant muscles make up so much of the body and does so much to support and carry everything else, pain that initiates in the back can manifest almost anywhere in the body, thus making the actual cause difficult to diagnose.

Your back supports your entire body. When you think about it for a moment, everything is attached to and therefore radiates out from the back. Just as the body is a system, with all the organs, muscles, nerves etc. working to support one another, so is pain systemic. The converse of this is that if your back is strong and healthy, the rest of your body will experience substantially less pain.

Keeping the back muscles strong is one of the easiest ways to avoid chronic pain. You do not need to buy expensive equipment or even go to the gym to do this. There are many simple and natural ways to strengthen your back and reduce or prevent pain.

The thing you don’t want to do if at all possible is take narcotic painkillers. There are several reasons for this. The first is that they are addictive and if you are dealing with any form of chronic pain, addiction is a real risk.

The second is that they generally only mask the pain rather than doing anything to alleviate the symptoms. This is not to say that you should eschew such things completely. Right after an injury, for example, they may serve to get you moving when nothing else will, and as movement is vital to back function, that is important. However, be careful that use does not turn into dependence or abuse. That helps neither your back nor you.

If you have severe or debilitating pain, you will want to consult with your chiropractor and other medical professionals about how much you want to do and how often, but the best prevention and cure for back pain is walking. That’s right. Putting one foot in front of the other.

Depending on your condition of course, walking may at first hurt more than not walking. This should not discourage you. Any kind of physical therapy always hurts more at the beginning. It’s counterintuitive, but it’s the way it is.

Walking is also an excellent preventative. Most of us sit all day and our bodies are not really geared for that. Walking helps to realign things.

Walking is also a good exercise and one of the things outside of injury that contributes to back pain and retards healing is weight. The less weight you are carrying, the easier your body has it. Walking helps there too.

Walking is not the only solution. There are other exercises you can do or that your practitioner can work you through to ease the pain.

Back pain relief through better posture:

From time to time everyone has bad posture

Sitting, standing, walking, each of us adopts poor posture now and then.

When we do it only now and then, of course, little will come of it. Yet to continue with bad posture is to reliably store up painful problems and experiences for the future.

In addition to chronic back pain, poor posture can also prevent correct functioning of the nervous system housed in the vertebral column, leading on to all manner of complaints from headaches to insomnia.

Perhaps the most common postural bad habit is rounded shoulders and upper back. When we adopt this position, usually the head leans forwards and downwards, throwing the entire spine out of alignment.

Often this poor posture is accompanied by an extended tummy, arched lower back and protruding derriere.

All of these bad postural habits can and will lead on to back pain and other problems if left uncorrected.

Those with good posture will have three natural curves in the back and the bony vertebrae – or little bumps – will form a more or less straight line down the entire back.

When the natural curvature of the back is excessive then postural deformity known either as hyperkyphosis or hyperlordosis is most often the cause. Hyperkyphosis is an exaggeration in the upper curvature of the back and is a condition common in the elderly, while hyperlodosis is a similar condition but in the lower back.

Often, though, these two conditions exist together. As our bodies mature and age, our muscles tend to weaken and our vertebrae or spinal discs tend to lose a degree of their suppleness. This intensifies wear and tear on the spine itself, thereby making it harder to maintain good posture.

Yet these conditions are not solely reserved for the senior citizen. Those who spend hours bent over books or in front of a pc monitor without good posture and seating – and without pausing for proper breaks – can also develop hyperkyphosis and subsequent back pain.

‘Flat back’ is yet another example of chronic ill posture which involves a near total loss of curvature in the back, usually other than in the neck area.

The spine is in its best and most healthy alignment when it forms something like an ‘S’ formation.

To check for this, hold the head in a straight, neutral position, chin in. Make sure that your ears form a line with the middle of your shoulders, keeping your shoulder blades back and chest forward. Ensure that your tummy is tucked in and your knees straight yet relaxed.

This ‘S’ alignment makes sure that you are putting a minimum of stress and strain on the joints, ligaments and muscles responsible for good posture.

Posture can be adversely affected by a number of different things including being overweight, underdeveloped muscles and incorrect shoes.

The bed in which you sleep can also affect your posture. Choose a bed that is firm without being too hard and a pillow that is not too high but high enough to comfortably support your head and take the weight from your neck and shoulders as you sleep.

In conjunction with the spinal erector muscles – the spinal erectors – the muscles of the stomach play an important role in good postural health and endurance. Be sure to exercise these muscles if you really want good back health.

Stretching exercises and weight bearing exercise are also great for postural health.

If you truly want good health, take the time to invest in proper posture and you’ll find yourself skipping through life.

1. What is Sciatia?

Each year, many people are forced to miss out on activities they enjoy because of sciatica-related pain. The sciatic nerve runs from the lower back all the way down the legs, and the pain associated with sciatica can be severe. Sciatica can be caused by many issues including herniated discs, bone spurs, poor posture, obesity, weak muscles, and major trauma. The symptoms of sciatica include weakness, pain, and numbness anywhere along the sciatic nerve. These symptoms can be incapacitating and most people will do anything they can to relieve their symptoms.

Some info on sciatica reveals that one of the most successful treatments for sciatica pain is to exercise. You can release some pressure on the affected nerve roots by stretching. There are also several back exercises that will help you to relieve the sciatica pain if such pain is not overwhelming. You can also find detailed sciatica exercises online that can help you overcome the sciatica pain. It’s not recommended to stay in bed when you have sciatica pain, you should at least stretch your legs and back.

2. Tips to Cure Sciatica:

Simple effective sciatica home treatment, sounds too good to be true doesn’t it. Like I said before, you can ease your pain, especially if you don’t wait too long. The tips below will help to relieve back pain if you start now.

Tip 1 – in the first 48 hours use ice. Ice will decrease the inflammation present and can stop sciatica before it starts. So put ice on the area for 10 minutes, rest for 10 minutes and then repeat the process two more times. Ice is only effective for the first 48 hours, so don’t delay using it. Ice can be a simple and quick pain reliever in those initial stages.

Tip 2 – Stretch your Piriformis muscle. The Piriformis muscle has the sciatic nerve either running through it or next to it. If the muscle tightens then sciatica is common. To ease your sciatica, you must stretch effectively.

Tip 3 – Balance your Pelvis. The pelvis is like a foundation to a house. If the foundations are in balance, the rest of the house won’t creak. The same for back pain. If the pelvis is balanced tension eases off other areas quickly.

(Your pelvis is the most common cause of lower back pain and sciatica It is also commonly left untreated)

Tip 4 – Keep moving. You do not need to move fast but you need to move. If you rest and do not move at all, muscles will tighten quicker. This is why you may pain is worse in the morning after a nights sleep. Once you move your pain can ease considerably.

Tip 5 – As the saying goes, if pain persists seek help. This doesn’t necessarily mean consulting a practitioner. But if you have had a fall or injury, you should. Seek help from those who are experts in treating sciatica. Gain their knowledge and expertise to learn simple ways you can eliminate your sciatica with.

Sciatica home treatment is easy if you know what to target, how to target the areas and how to effectively eliminate your pain. Sciatica is a common condition, but you have the tools to make it disappear quickly. All you need to do is follow some simple tips for sciatica home treatment.
